UICC’s Role in Cervical Cancer Elimination

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), representing over 1,200 organizations in 172 countries, leads global efforts in cancer prevention and control. In Africa, UICC advocates for integrating cervical cancer services into universal health coverage, robust national strategies, and early detection measures. Its April 2022 report outlines pathways to meet WHO elimination targets, emphasizing collaboration among governments, civil society, and the private sector. In Nigeria, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation pilots school-based HPV vaccination and trains healthcare workers to strengthen community awareness and access.
