The Kebbi integrated approach PHC revival and cancer control.

In Kebbi State, Nigeria, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, led by the governor’s wife, has driven cancer awareness and maternal health improvements despite the absence of a formal HPV program. Through advocacy and partnerships, the state piloted HPV vaccination for 100 schoolgirls, supported over 300 cancer patients, and significantly improved immunization coverage. Initiatives include training health workers, community mobilization, and integrating maternal-child health with cancer prevention strategies. Lessons from this pilot highlight the need for stronger funding, political commitment, and scalable HPV vaccination models for low- and middle-income countries.
