The presentation by Dr. Suchada Jiamsiri outlines Thailand’s experience with HPV vaccine introduction and communication strategies. Thailand, a high middle-income country with 66 million people, launched a pilot HPV vaccination project in 2014 targeting Grade 5 girls and 11-year-old out-of-school girls, later scaling up nationally in 2017. The program employed a structured communication approach: identifying key audiences (students, parents, teachers, health providers, policymakers, media), assessing knowledge gaps, developing standardized communication packages and manuals, and leveraging school health programs for direct outreach. Mass media (TV, radio, social media) and high-level policy endorsements reinforced public trust, complemented by media surveillance to address rumors promptly. Training health personnel at multiple levels ensured consistent messaging, contributing to improved vaccine coverage and broader awareness of cervical cancer prevention.
