Peer Exchange Learning On Implementation And Research Gaps In Strengthening Health Information Systems

Representatives from Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Pakistan discussed progress and gaps in HPV-related health information systems. Key challenges included fragmented databases, lack of integration with cancer registries, and minimal data from private sectors despite high service use there. Bangladesh highlighted DHIS2 scaling issues (server load, data quality); India explored leveraging the CoWIN platform and common digital IDs; Maldives focused on completing electronic registries and initiating cancer registration; Sri Lanka emphasized shifting from aggregated to individual-level tracking for vaccination and screening; Myanmar raised concerns on community cultural barriers and peer-based data collection; Pakistan stressed vertical program silos and weak private sector reporting. A recurring theme was the urgent need for linked, interoperable systems to track vaccination, screening, and treatment outcomes and ensure equity for out-of-school or marginalized adolescents.
