She highlighted that approximately 60 million Bangladeshi women are at risk, with an estimated 8,000–10,000 cervical cancer cases and 5,000–6,000 deaths annually. Beyond clinical impact, she stressed the profound social and economic consequences—stigma, domestic violence, financial hardship, and loss of income—underscoring cervical cancer as both a medical and social crisis. Dr. Begum called for coordinated action to address prevention, screening, treatment, and broader societal support to mitigate these burdens.
