Current delivery strategies: overview and way forward to optimizing sustainable delivery strategies – Senegal

The HPV vaccination program in Senegal, introduced in 2018, targets girls aged 9–14 and is delivered through schools, health facilities, and community strategies. Coverage initially peaked at 94% for the first dose in 2019 but declined following COVID-19 disruptions. To address gaps, the program intensified community outreach, leveraged school campaigns, and used integration with other vaccination drives. Recent optimization includes expanded target age, improved communication with women’s groups, and tackling misinformation. Coordination between health and education sectors remains crucial for sustaining coverage.
