The snapshot highlights the 2019 national rollout following a 2014–2016 pilot in Brikama. The country targets girls in grade 3 and out-of-school girls aged 9–14 using the Gardasil vaccine, delivered through school-based, facility-based, and outreach strategies. In September 2024, The Gambia transitioned to a single-dose schedule following NITAG approval. Over 95% coverage is achieved in schools, underpinned by a strong technical working group and a national vaccination guideline. Future priorities include a national vaccination campaign in November 2025, integration into routine immunization, and scaling up cervical cancer screening.
