In Senegal, the HPV vaccine was introduced nationwide in 2018, targeting 9-year-old girls using a quadrivalent Gardasil two-dose schedule (6 months apart) with passive catch-up for girls aged 10–14. National coverage stands at 68% for HPV1 and 34% for HPV2 (July 2025), still below the pre-COVID peak of 90% HPV1 coverage achieved in 2019. Delivery is integrated into the routine EPI, combining health facilities, school-based vaccination coordinated with teachers, and adapted community strategies (Ronde des jeunes filles, HPV+ Project, Mag ak rak). Single-dose transition is under NITAG review, with the two-dose schedule maintained in the interim. A National HPV Vaccination Recovery Plan (2025–2026) and Communication Plan (2024–2028) target ≥90% coverage, supported by government and Gavi co-financing with a transition to full government funding planned post-Gavi eligibility.
