The Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS of Burundi detailed its HPV vaccination progress at the 2025 CHIC Symposium, following the national introduction in January 2024. Targeting girls aged 9 to 14, the program achieved 95% coverage for the first dose through a combined strategy of school-based vaccination and fixed health facility sites. Current priorities include transitioning to a single-dose schedule, strengthening the cold chain, and addressing rumors through intensified community communication. The intervention emphasized the integration of HPV vaccination into the broader Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) to ensure long-term sustainability.
