Burkina Faso introduced the HPV vaccine in two phases: an initial pilot (2015–2017) in two districts using a two-dose schedule (6 months apart), followed by nationwide rollout in April 2022 under the same schedule for 9-year-old girls. Following revised WHO guidance, the country transitioned to a single-dose schedule. This shift was formalized through national directives in January 2023 and fully implemented in all health facilities by February 2023. Vaccination coverage data show marked peaks during intensification campaigns; for example, over 144,000 girls were vaccinated in May 2023, and more than 71,000 during a similar campaign in May 2024. These campaigns were strategically conducted ahead of school holidays and integrated with other health interventions to optimize reach and improve coverage.
