Following previous regional symposia — most recently the 2025 symposium in Nairobi on advancing sustainable HPV vaccination programs in Africa and the 2024 CHIC Symposium in Manila focused on HPV vaccination programs in Southeast and Western Pacific Asia— the Coalition to Strengthen the HPV Immunization Community (CHIC) returns to the Asia-Pacific region, broadening its scope to include South Asia alongside Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific.
Continuing its commitment to fostering a community of practice for HPV vaccination programs, CHIC is organizing an in-person symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on the 17th, 18th, and 19th of November 2026, co-hosted with Institut Pasteur Vietnam. Themed “Sustainability and Optimization of HPV Vaccination Programs in Asia (South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Western Pacific),” the symposium will focus on sustaining and optimizing HPV vaccination implementation and facilitate cross-country exchange to build a shared understanding of best practices and common challenges.
As in previous years, CHIC extends an open invitation for the Call for Abstracts, encouraging mid-career researchers and implementers from the region to contribute their expertise, findings, and experiences, and to be part of the collective effort to advance HPV vaccination and cervical cancer elimination.
Disclaimer: Please note that in order to comply with the local regulations of the host country, Vietnam, we are yet to receive official approval to conduct the symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The request for approval is underway.
Abstract submission guidelines
- Priority will be given to abstracts from within the region
- Abstracts should represent original work or a project where the author was actively involved
- Evidence-based abstracts and reports/programme evaluation abstracts are accepted
- The abstract should be written in English
- Abstract submissions received after the given deadline, due to any reason, will not be accepted unless the deadline is extended
- The abstract should be submitted in the format of an MS Word (.doc or .docx) document
- The deadline to submit your abstract is August 25th, 2026 (23:59 ICT / 18:59 CEST)
- Abstract submissions that do not conform to the guidelines will not be accepted
Abstract Format
- Abstract titles should be short but descriptive. Informative titles indicating key points are encouraged. Abbreviations should not be used in the title (Max 20 words)
- The word limit for abstract body is 275 words
- Keywords should be provided as a must (no more than 6 words)
- Keywords should be written in lowercase letters (not applicable to names/scientific names) and should be separated with commas
- Please do not include subheadings, bullets, lists, and header/footer in the abstract
- Consider the following structure: Introduction/Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and/or Recommendations. However, this structure is not mandatory if it does not align with the nature of your abstract.
- Acronyms should be written in full the first time they are mentioned in the text, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses
Abstract Review
Each abstract will be reviewed by at least two independent scientific reviewers according to the following six criteria:
- Relevance to the meeting objectives
- Background and rationale for the study/work
- Appropriateness of methods
- Presentation of results
- Conclusions and implication of results
- Public health significance
